LSU game airing in HD on ESPNU

by Leslie Turk

Thanks to an agreement reached between Cox Louisiana and ESPN, ESPNU was launched in HD today — just in time for tomorrow’s LSU game. The network began appearing on Cox Channel 785 in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans markets at noon (ESPNU’s digital signal will remain on Cox Channel 243). LSU’s home opener against Vanderbilt is tomorrow at 6 p.m.

“We knew this was an important addition for our customers. We are glad we could reach agreement in time for this weekend’s SEC kickoff between LSU and Vanderbilt,” says Colleen Levy, vice president of marketing for Cox.

Due to technical issues, ESPNU HD is not launching at this time in St. Mary and St. Martin parishes, but ESPNU’s digital Channel 243 will be available to customers in those markets. The HD signal should be available in those parishes next week in time for the LSU-UL game at Tiger Stadium.
