Letters to the Editor

THANKS FOR BOOZOO AND THE INDEPENDENT

This is in response to an article from The Independent Weekly that I just discovered on the Internet. It's a lively interview with Anthony Wilson "Boozoo" Chavis (""Don't You Worry About Boozoo," July 5, 2006). It's wonderful. At the end, there is an option for sending a comment to the editor, so regardless of the time lag, I'm sending my comment to you.

Thank you to The Independent for your coverage of the Cajun, Creole and zydeco musicians and music. I live in south New Jersey and travel to Lafayette and southwest Louisiana three times a year. I'm certainly not the only one from the northeast United States who honors southwest Louisiana as my Mecca, and we appreciate your information.

Personally, I like to see your Wednesday edition with the centerfold Grid of events before I fly to Lafayette. I will fly out of Philadelphia very early Wednesday morning in order to check into the Blue Moon, dance at Randol's (and hopefully play my t'fer) and then participate in the Cajun jam at the Blue Moon later on Wednesday night. The Independent's Grid is the most helpful to me as a traveler to the Lafayette area, in planning all of the Cajun and zydeco events that I will attend. Thank you.
