Ragin' Jazz dancer in new Carrie Underwood video

by Leslie Turk

When Kristin Daniel got word late this summer that country superstar Carrie Underwood was scouting dancers for the video for her hit single "Cowboy Casanova," the 2009 Teurlings Catholic grad and current UL Ragin' Jazz dancer sent a sample video of her work to Underwood's choreographer and record label. "Cowboy Casanova" is the lead single on Underwood's new album Play On, which is due out Nov. 3.

Within a few days, Daniel was notified that she'd been chosen and soon found herself in New Orleans (she was asked not to disclose the specific location for shooting) as one of the video's featured dancers.

Daniel is majoring in hospitality management at UL but calls that her "fallback," saying she will pursue a career as a professional dancer. "This is my passion," she says. "This is what I'm going to do."

If this video is any indication, she's off to a great start (when the dancers first appear with Underwood, she's wearing the silver dress on Underwood's left, and later in the video she's wearing a cream corset with a blue top and her hair pulled up high). The video is running all day on CMT. View it here.
