UL museum hosts wine and food festival

by Mary Tutwiler

October is the month for eating, and I’m not talking about Halloween candy. This weekend, the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum will host the inaugural Acadiana Food and Wine Festival on October 24 and 25. The event, a fund raiser for the museum, is designed to showcase the connection between all great artists: painters, sculptors, chefs and wine makers alike.

Participating restaurants include Bonnie Bell’s Bistro, Charley G’s, imonelli, Pamplona Tapas Bar, Ruth’s Chris, Tsunami, Jolie’s and Acadiana Cheese. Wine and spirits presentations will focus on the history of Women and Wine, Forgotten 19th Century Wine Cocktails, Establishing an Art Collection on a Budget, and a geographical survey of French wine country.

The Festival will begin on Friday evening, Oct. 23 with Joie du Vin, an upscale wine reception. Tickets for the Friday night preview are $100 per guest. Admission for the festival itself is $25. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or on-line. All proceeds will benefit the programs and operations of the museum.
