MidSouth Bank and Andrus Insurance teamed up for the sixth year in a row as presenting sponsors for the annual Entrée to Business Luncheon featuring Dr. Loren Scott’s economic forecast. A sell-out crowd packed the Cajundome Convention Center for the Oct. 13 presentation (raves all around for Chef Gilbert Decourt’s Cajun tenderloin and fruit torte!), and each attendee received a complimentary CD of Scott’s comprehensive statewide report as well as his PowerPoint presentation, made possible in part by Chris Allain’s team at Vidox. After MidSouth Bank President and CEO Rusty Cloutier’s words of welcome, Acadiana Business co-publisher and emcee Cherry Fisher May announced the pending publication of Cloutier’s new book Big Bad Banks, which offers his take on the recent turmoil in the financial markets. As past chairman of the Independent Community Bankers of America and former director of the Atlanta Federal Reserve’s New Orleans branch for six years, reporting to former fed chairman Allen Greenspan, Cloutier offers a valuable and insightful perspective on what went wrong and what we can do to prevent similar problems in the future.
