Kuwait Oil looking for U.S. firms with high-tech solutions

by Leslie Turk

City-Parish President Joey Durel will be at Lafayette Regional Airport this afternoon to welcome the deputy chairman/deputy managing director for planning and gas at the Kuwait Oil Company. Mohammad Husain, who will be in town this week for the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition, is expected to arrive at the airport at 2:30 p.m.

LAGCOE runs Oct. 27 to Oct. 29 at the Cajundome and Cajundome Convention Center (for an in-depth look at the state of the industry, read this month’s Acadiana Business cover story, news stories and Gifford Briggs' column on compressed natural gas, the bridge fuel).

Husain’s presentation, “Selling to Kuwait Oil Company: Partnering in a 55% Production Increase,” which is new to the schedule, takes place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Convention Center Jazz Ballroom. Kuwait sits atop 10 percent of the earth’s proven oil reserves and plans to increase production from 2.6 to 4 billion barrels of oil per day. KOC is eager to increase its American vendor and service providers. Husain will discuss KOC’s needs and how to get pre-qualified as a vendor of services and products to the national oil company of Kuwait. U.S. firms with high tech solutions to heavy oil problems have a great opportunity to do business in this power house in the Arabian Gulf.

Online registration has closed, but there are still spaces available. Arrive early for on-site registration. For more on LAGCOE’s international presentations and programs, click here.
