Spooky strings

by Mary Tutwiler

All dressed up and nowhere to go? That is if you can’t resist putting on your Halloween costume for a test run on Friday night. Don’t despair, keep those glad rags on and waltz right over to Angelle Hall for UL’s annual Halloween Concert. Director Michael Blaney and the UL Symphony Orchestra, with guest appearances by the UL Opera Workshop and Lafayette High Strings, will be playing music from Harry Potter; Stravinsky, The Firebird Suite; Verdi, Macbeth; Anderson, The Syncopated Clock; and Meyer, Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space. And forget about that white tie garb, watch for a monster orchestra filled with goblins, witches, warlocks and dragons. Hopefully Lord Voldemort and Lady Macbeth can carry a tune.

The music begins at 7:30 p.m. in Angelle Hall on UL’s campus. Admission is $6 for adults, free for 17 and younger, all UL students, faculty, and staff with I.D. All proceeds benefit the UL Orchestra Program. For more information call the UL School of Music at 482-6012.
