KPLC to air one-hour special on Jeff Davis murders

by Nathan Stubbs

It's a story that's consumed Jeff Davis Parish. Eight young women over the past four years have been found dead, bodies decomposed, in rural areas around Jennings. All of the women ran in the same social circles and all had problems with drug abuse. The killings remain unsolved. Tomorrow night at 7 p.m., KPLC TV in Lake Charles airs a one-hour special on the ongoing investigation into what many believe to be a serial killer in Jeff Davis Parish.

KPLC TV news director Scott Flannigan says KPLC worked all angles of the story for the special, including interviews with the victims' family members, Jeff Davis Sheriff Ricky Edwards, and known drug offenders in Jennings suspected of being tied to the killings. "We hope to shed light on, one, who these women were, the human side of these women," Flannigan says. "Not that they were so-called high-risk lifestyle women but mothers with families. We also hope that we can maybe help bring some closure to this case, that whoever is responsible or anyone with knowledge about these women's deaths will feel remorse and come forward."
