De Madera Artisans Bazaar grand opening tonight

by Mary Tutwiler

The newest art gallery in Lafayette is opening under a familiar artsy roof. De Madera, the Indonesian imports shop on Pinhook, is transforming into De Madera Artisans Bazaar. De Madera Interiors, on Ambassador Caffery, will still be the flagship furniture store.

Owners Joel Davis and Patrick Broussard are offering booths for local artists to show their stuff. Most of the booths, crafted out of recycled architectural elements that provide a funky backdrop for the art, are full, and the grand opening is today at 5 p.m. Works by Patrice Wynn, Trina Broussard, Dennis Hardgroder, Anita and Mickey Hughes, Dee Jones, Sandy Lindig, John Avant, Mark Gustafson, Gerald Judice, Dana Manly, Sandi Stewart and others are on display. Come enjoy some spontaneous food, drink, piano music and great local art. De Madera Artisans Bazaar,  610 W. Pinhook; call 769-7777 for more info.
