Two Lafayette campuses that are part of the Louisiana Community & Technical College System were among 17 statewide to grow enrollment, according to the latest rankings of the fasted growing two-year public institutions nationwide by Community College Week, a magazine that bills itself  as “the independent voice covering community, technical and junior colleges.”

South Louisiana Community College jumped into the “2,500 to 4,999” enrollment category for the first time, ranking 12 out of 50 schools with a 19.9 percent enrollment increase from fall 2007 to fall 2008, when 2,944 students were enrolled. Louisiana Technical College’s Lafayette campus, meanwhile, ranked 35th in the “less than 2,500” enrollment category, growing 16.2 percent in the same time period. LTC-Lafayette’s enrollment in fall 2008 was 1,126 students.

LTC-Oakdale was named the fastest-growing two-year public institution nationwide among schools with an enrollment of fewer than 2,500 students.
