Bodacious benefit for St. Joe's diner

by Nathan Stubbs

Lafayette Catholic Service Centers and Bodacious Productions are kicking off the holidays with the first annual Bodacious Christmas Bash, a fundraiser and goods drive benefiting St. Joseph Diner and Toys for Tots.

St. Joseph Diner serves lunch to those in need 364 days a year, providing an average of 60,000 meals annually. Serving the hungry of Acadiana since 1983, the Diner is making great strides this year, moving from its current location on West Simcoe, into a new location on the Lafayette Catholic Service Centers’ main campus in the Boustany building on the corner of St. John and Simcoe streets. Construction on the new St. Joseph Diner is scheduled for completion in March 2010.

This first annual fundraiser will include music by Lafayette roots band The Canes, the Sons of Voodoo, and the Keith Blair All-Stars, featuring local talents Roddie Romero, Cedric Watson, Horace Trahan, Mike Dean, Eric Adcock and Troy Richard, and from Austin, Texas, Kevin Sekhani. The event will also feature a holiday costume contest.

Tickets are $10 plus a donation of either six canned goods or a new unopened toy. Those not wishing to donate goods can make an additional donation of $5 for a total ticket price of $15. For more information about this event or St. Joseph Diner, please contact Autumn dela Houssaye at 235-4972
