'Nue Moon Revue' spotlights local songwriters

by Nathan Stubbs

Tonight, the Blue Moon Saloon & Guesthouse hosts another installment of "Nue Moon Revue," a part cabaret, part vaudeville, part singer-songwriter showcase that promises original, intimate and eclectic performances from the area's top talent. Tonight's lineup includes both familiar faces —Dirk Powell and David Greely — and one newcomer: local cinematographer Allison Bohl making her debut as a songwriter. Melissa Stevenson of The Figs, Christiaan Mader of Brass Bed and Maegan Berard also take the stage.

Created and hosted by Caroline Helm of The Figs, each "New Moon Revue" features six songwriters performing original material backed by an exceptional house band made up of Chris Stafford (Feufollet), Joel Savoy (Savoy Family Band), Cal Stevenson (Bluerunners) and Danny Devillier (Ginger Lee). Expect a lively crowd and some surprises. Show starts at 9 p.m.
