Independent, AAN seek Haiti donations

by Walter Pierce

The Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, of which The Independent is a member, is teaming up with the International Rescue Committee to raise money for relief efforts in Haiti, where 50,000 are feared dead and virtually the entire capital of Port au Prince reduced to rubble following Tuesday’s earthquake.

Formed in 1933, the IRC goes to crisis zones to aid in rescue and rebuilding efforts. It has been endorsed by the American Institute of Philanthropy, the Forbes Investment Guide and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. Ninety percent of your donation is spent on IRC programs and services. To make a contribution, log on to the IRC’s Web site.
