Finley nominated for U.S. attorney

President Barack Obama has nominated Stephanie Finley of Lafayette to be the next U.S. attorney for Louisiana's Western District. Finley's appointment is pending confirmation by the U.S. Senate. If confirmed, she will succeed Bush appointee Donald Washington, who has already announced his resignation and is taking a job with the Jones Walker law firm. U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu recommended both Finley and north Louisiana attorney John Belton for the job back in July. At the time, The Independent's political insider "Peep Goat" reported Finley as the likely choice.
