Boustany urges new direction on health care

In an op-ed for the D.C. newspaper Politico, Congressman Charles Boustany argues Democrats need to scrap the current House and Senate health care reform bills and start anew. Boustany points to the recent election of Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts - an election many called a referendum on health care - as evidence that a majority of Americans are not supportive of Democrats plans to overhaul health care. I had the honor to address the American people after the president spoke to a joint session of Congress in September. I discussed several solutions to lower costs where Republicans and Democrats agree on health care. The president spoke about each of these areas, too. Unfortunately, the current proposals focus on where we disagree.
