Indy columnist: Saints are America's team

by Walter Pierce

Among the many great storylines surrounding Super Bowl XLIV — New Orleans native Peyton Manning against his dad's former team, the top seeds from each conference squaring off for the first time since 1993, the Saints' first appearance in a Super Bowl — none resonates more than a hurricane-ravaged city embracing its once star-crossed team.

That much of America will be pulling for the sentimental-favorite Saints on Feb. 7 in Miami isn't lost on Colts Nation. Indianapolis Star sports columnist Bob Kravitz, in his weekly podcast, "Bob's 2Minute Blitz," warns Colts fans to "start bracing themselves right now: Your Colts are the supporting actors in this thing ... I can promise you most of America is gonna root for New Orleans, and frankly I can't blame 'em."
