It was announced that Joe May has been named the new chief of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, replacing Walter Bumphus. Also announced today was one of Walter Bumphus' last official employee assignments ' Chris Williams to be director of the Workforce Training & Development Unit. According to Bumphus, it was a lateral transfer and had nothing to do with Williams' juvenile conduct over the past several months.
Fortunately for Williams, his buddy, Bumphus, granted him one last favor. Hopefully, the incoming director may not feel the need to grant favors. Joe May will now be able to offer the position to a respected member of his/her community and one who is qualified for the job. We are all watching closely for this to happen.
