Classical shred-heads invade UL

by Dege Legg

UL Lafayette School of Music gets their shred on with the Friends of Music Classical Guitar Competition.

And you thought shred was just for the metal heads. You thought wrong, stoner. Classical dudes like to shred just as much as the headbangers. Look at Yngwie Malmstone the king of 80s shred guitar. That dude was a classical shredderhoffen. Rumor has it that Andrés Segovia, the famous Spanish classical guitarist, was a shred head, too. They say that back in the day, Segovia would loosen up the guitar strap, low ride his ax,  and chug on a few powerchords for the chicks in the front row as his amps warmed up. Yeah! CHUG IT! Chug, Chug. What's up, ladies?! Chug, Chug. On March 27, the UL Lafayette School of Music gets their shred on with the Friends of Music Classical Guitar Competition at 3:00 p.m. in the Bayou Bijou auditorium in the student union. The concert is open to the public and shred heads alike. Stoners need not apply Joking, of course. The guitar department is large.
