For people who would like to help with clean up of the oil spill, British Petroleum's Houston office has just activated a volunteer hot line. There's work for anyone who wants to pitch in. If you have technical expertise, are in the construction business and have supplies, if you have a boat, if you are willing to prepare and serve food, rescue and clean wildlife, or man phone lines, call 866 448-5816. An operator will take your name and phone number and pass the information on to people in field offices in Louisiana. You will then be sent to where the need is greatest.

To view updated information on the spill response staging area, BP has an oil spill incidence response Web site. For more information on technical issues, call the Deep Water Horizon Information Center at 985 902-5231, to report wildlife fouled with oil, call the Wildlife Reports line at 866 557-1401, and for community response information, call 866 448-5816.
