This month Downtown businesses and galleries will open their doors for a celebration of student art.

From paintings to chalk art in Parc Sans Souci and poetry readings in businesses to mixed media works, the Lafayette Parish School System's 2010 Student Arts Expo showcases the creative talent from every school in the parish. There will be a ceremony to kick off this great occasion and announce the winners of the chalk art contest in Parc Putnam at 2 p.m. May 8.
