BUMPER CROP

Triumph of the human spirit. That is what came to mind when I read Erin Zaunbrecher's "Arnaudville Renaissance" story (April 5). I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Independent Weekly for going where no other publication would dare to go. Within the last eight months I've watched our community transform itself with immeasurable support from our townspeople, friends, family, local businesses, chamber of commerce and fellow artists.

I would like to thank Councilmen Remi Olivier, John Ray Taylor and Chad Hebert for attempting to simplify the many issues that arose. I'd also like to thank Councilwoman Elsie LaGrange for listening to the facts and having the courage to take a stand and vote for what she thought was best for the town. Finally, even though Councilman Ricky LaGrange had a difference of opinion, he had the conviction to stand by what he believes.

Arnaudville is now poised to become a true artists' living, working and teaching community. Our new crop is artists, and that, when added all together, is big business.

Thanks again for a great article.
