According to the ordinance creating the charter commission, two minority members - one from the city and one from unincorporated Lafayette Parish - must be serve on the panel. Eight minority members from the city submitted résumés. Employees of Lafayette Consolidated Government or persons with a contractual relationship with LCG are prohibited from serving on the commission.
