Appearing on Good Morning America this morning, Congressman Charlie Melancon directed his frustration at the man quickly becoming the poster child for oil industry irresponsibility, BP CEO Tony Hayward. Asked, "where do you put the blame for this [oil spill] first and foremost?", Melancon called to question BP's chief executive. "You know, I was watching this week as the CEO of BP was talking about he wants his life back, I'm to the point where I wish the board would call him back and give us somebody that really wants to make sure that the people of this state, the people of this Gulf coast region have what they need when they want to try and fight this oil spill."

Hayward has clearly been feeling the pressure of late as his company continues to hit road blocks in its attempt to plug a massive oil leak in the Gulf. BP's stock has lost some $70 billion in shareholder value since the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion. That hasn't stopped the British corporate executive from making some of the most ardently defensive and downright delusional statements to the press regarding the oil leak.
