A cheeseburger in paradise could soon well be a less common thing on Gulf Coast state beaches if BP can't get control of the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Like many other acts around the world, Jimmy Buffet is throwing a benefit concert on July 1 to help aid the clean up effort in the Gulf. Lafayette's own slide guitar hero extraordinaire Sonny Landreth is scheduled to perform with Buffet at the concert. Other high profile musicians performing at the concert include Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band and Allen Toussaint, among others.

The show takes place on the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., and will be broadcast live on CMT on July 1. For more information on benefit concerts scheduled around the nation in regards to the Gulf oil spill, visit http://gulfcoastbenefit.com.
