by Dege Legg

Feufollet kicks off DTA Friday in downtown Lafayette at Parc International.

Downtown Alive! (exclamation mark included!) kicks off its Fall 2010 season tonight in downtown Lafayette with the roots/Cajun/indie pop hybrid of Feufollet. Feufollet represents the future of Cajun music. What once was a cute group of young kids playing Cajun tunes is now a mature musical outfit that has toured far beyond their hometown, serving as cultural ambassadors through their tasteful swing and mannered mash up of rootsy, indie pop and traditional Cajun.

For 27 years, Downtown Alive! has united the community to create a weekly tradition of free, family-friendly, smoke free, outdoor concerts every Fall and Spring. The Fall 2010 season kicks off tonight, Sept. 10 at Parc International. DTA begins at 5:30 p.m. with food and beverage concessions. Musical performances start at 6:00 p.m. and run till 8:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Sponsored by Cox Communications, Lafayette Coca-Cola, Lets Be Totally Clear, and Teche Drugs Pharmacy, DTA! features performances by Grammy Nominated,  renowned and up and coming musicians representing a variety of genres ranging from Cajun, Swamp Pop, Blues, Rock, Latin and more.  The Fall season also includes special events throughout, kicking off Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, painting Downtown red for the UL Homecoming Pep Rally, and celebrating the holidays with the lighting of the official City Christmas Tree at the last DTA! of the season on Thanksgiving Eve. Downtown Alive! is produced by Downtown Lafayette in cooperation with Lafayette Consolidated Government.
