It's becoming increasingly clear that auto dealer Don Hargroder isn't partial to any brand. Though primarily a GM dealer, Hargroder has long held other brands in his portfolio, and now he hopes to add Jackie Edgar Ford in Breaux Bridge to Courtesy Automotive Group.

ABiz's "Dealmaker of the Year" in 2009, Hargroder has taken over management of the Breaux Bridge icon and hopes to soon assume ownership, bringing Ford back into the company's lineup. For a short time, he owned a Ford dealership in Morgan City.

"We are definitely in a management agreement with Jackie Edgar Ford and in a buy-sell also," says Courtesy General Manager Paul Stroderd. "We are just waiting on Ford approval."

Courtesy is headquartered at 4750 Johnston St., where it sells GMC and Buick; its Lafayette Cadillac dealership is on Ambassador Caffery, and it sells Lincoln south of the Mall of Acadiana. It also has dealerships in New Iberia, Morgan City, Franklin and Abbeville.

Taking over management of Jackie Edgar is the latest strategic move for Hargroder, whose almost 30 years of dealership buying and selling will make anyone's head spin. In March Adrian Vega purchased Hargroder's Mazda dealership, adding it to his Evangeline Thruway lineup across from the airport.
