LBR and Cedric kick off festival with DTA show

by Dege Legg

Lost Bayou Ramblers and Cedric Watson play DTA Friday, the opening salvo in this weekend's Festivals Acadiens et Creoles.

Downtown Alive! kicks off Festivals Acadien et Creole Friday with the Lost Bayou Ramblers and Cedric Watson in Parc International. Like demented archeologists, the Lost Bayou Ramblers have kept the ancient flame of old time Cajun music alive while barreling into the future with experimentation, creative spirit and an unbeatable live show. Former Texas native Cedric Watson moved to Louisiana to study the ways and means of Cajun and Creole culture. In the process, he formed his own band and won over the Acadiana region, the world and people's minds with accomplished fiddle and accordion playing paired with his Cajun Julio Iglesias romantic ballads.

Dowtown Alive kicks off tonight, Oct. 8, at Parc International in downtown Lafayette. DTA starts at 6 p.m. and runs till about 8 p.m.
