New photos show lingering effects from BP spill

The BP oil spill is more than six months behind us, the national media have long since broken tent and moved on to other stories, but new photos, some taken as recently as last Friday, reveal the continuing effects of the disaster. The BP oil spill is more than six months behind us, the national media have long since broken tent and moved on to other stories, but new photos, some taken as recently as last Friday, reveal the continuing effects of the disaster that released an estimated 205 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Marshes are still being coated by crude, mile-long ribbons of decaying oil can still be spotted on the surface waters, tar balls continue to wash up on beaches and thick sheets of tar are being discovered underneath sand below the level at which the beaches are being cleaned.
