Go to France on a CODOFIL scholarship

by Mary Tutwiler

What an opportunity! CODOFIL will send a few lucky students to France, Belgium or Canada to study French next year on its 2011 Scholarship and Exchange program.

Here are a few of the scholarships:

Fondation Louisiane, a non-profit foundation, offers two complete scholarships, to Louisiana university students for studies in French Education in Belgium or French Liberal Arts in Paris, in addition to several partial scholarships to enable students to study in France and Canada.

The French Community of Belgium has been offering scholarships to Louisiana students and teachers of French for more than 30 years. This summer, 15 Louisianians will study French in Belgium, and one graduate student will spend the year at the university and program of choice.

France, one of CODOFIL's oldest partners, offers several scholarships for teachers of French and doctoral students, as well as internships to teach English.  In collaboration with the Fondation Louisiane, they offer to a high school student the possibility of summer study in France through the Jason Dyess scholarship.

The Université Ste-Anne in Nova Scotia has created a mini-revolution among Louisianians of all ages, and continues to offer several scholarships to students and teachers to take part in their spring and summer immersion programs. École Suisse, a French language school in France, offers a summer scholarship to a high school student.

There are also internships from the French government for persons between 20 and 30 years old to live in France and teach English.

Go to CODOFIL's scholarship booklet, which contains additional details about all of these scholarships and more, as well as the application and details on how to apply.
