"There is no other network like it here and I love that it's a free resource for local parents," says Lipari. "I've received feedback from many mom's stating that they really love having a one stop shop for what's going on around town for their children. They say it makes it so much easier to find things to do with them and spend time together as a family." Did you know that today, Nov. 24, there's a free showing of the animated movie How to Train Your Dragon at the South Regional Library? Or that the Lafayette Christmas Tree lighting ceremony is today at Parc Sans Souci? Mac Kid Lafayette did. The newsletter is free. The content is hyper-local. SOUP AND SANDWICH
When the wind starts blowing from the north, most folks start thinking about gumbo. But much as we love the rich brown stuff, sometimes it's nice to sip some other sort of soup, which tends to be hard to find. Fortunately, Poupart's lunch chef, J. Kyel Robinson, likes his soup, and has a daily offering Monday through Saturday to suit everyone's fancy. Thursday, he has deconstructed the BLT. Think Applewood bacon, spinach and sundried tomatoes in a spicy cream soup. Pair it with one of the made-to-order sandwiches, say the mozzarella, tomato and pesto panini, and you've got yourself a deeply satisfying bistro lunch, enjoyed in the warm bread and cookie scent of the bakery. $7 for a cup of soup and half a sandwich. Call Poupart's at 232-7921 for more info. - Mary Tutwiler
