Homemade baby food classes held at Cena

by Anna Purdy

Abi Augello, local event planner and public relations consultant, is teaching classes on how parents can make their own baby food along with educating on the reasons why and how easy it is. "I'm the mom that forgets to put socks on my kid. If I can make homemade, organic baby food, anyone can." Augello says.

Sponsored by eLeMeNo-PEE, the class is being held at 6:30 p.m. March 14. Abi is mother to 6-month-old Amelie and wife to chef Manny Augello. "It's an understatement to say that food is important in our family. We want our daughter's carrots to taste like carrots and we want to introduce her to flavors and spices that manufacturers don't offer. I want her to grow up craving veggies as comfort food instead of sodium-filled, pre-packaged stuff," Abi says. She will be teaching how to buy in bulk and how to make several gallons at once, freezing the rest. Portions come out to under 20 cents per serving as opposed to the dollar or more store-bought food. The class will cover ways to help ease common baby discomforts simply with food.
