The April 20, 2010 disaster killed 11 rig workers and unleashed the worst oil spill in U.S. history. The 8,500-word story by David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul was published Dec. 25, 2010.
Summit Entertainment, along with Participant Media and Imagenation Abu Dhabi, announced the deal Tuesday, adding that Matthew Sand will write the screenplay and that talks are ongoing with Transformers producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. Summit Entertainment is the studio behind the popular Twilight franchise.
