Downtown Alive! goes all champagne supernova tonight with a special Grammy after party installment of DTA. Drinks, dancing, food, Cajun and zydeco music and plastic cups it all makes for a good party. The Pine Leaf Boys and Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band both nominees at this year's Grammys team up for this after party throw-down in Parc International in downtown Lafayette.

I haven't check to see if it is official but the Pine Leaf Boys may hold the record for the most Grammy nominations of any Cajun band in the Zydeco/Cajun Grammy category. Dudes have been cranking out the albums lately. The Pine Leaf Boys are known for breathing new life into Cajun twang, mixing it with some old fashion bang-bang, while clover humping the yin-yang of an ancient past that is locked in the dusty forever-machine. Their untamed shows and attentive arrangements have been described as "the link that connects the young and the old generations." They play the old stuff. They play the new stuff. They do it all. Except for metal. And emo.

["Chubby Carrier](iframe title=) is a king in the zydeco world. His win in the Zydeco/Cajun category at this year's Grammys only confirms it. He is a master squeezer on the accordion. According to Babylonian astronomy, master squeezers are a rare breed only two born every 100 years. Do the math. Take the ride. Born July 1, 1967 in Churchpoint, Louisiana, Carrier's zodiac alignment of celestial stones and space rocks denoted an elliptical path through the heavens, insuring a life filled with happiness, accordions and the occasional vernal equinox. Nice!

Carrier is third generation zydeco his father, grandfather, and cousins are considered zydeco legends. He received additional tutelage playing in Terrance Simien's band and touring the world for two years before forming his own band and rocketing off on the full trajectory we are witnessing now. With numerous albums to his name and his signature good-time boogie zydeco, Carrier dutifully fulfills the prophecy of the stars by becoming "The World's Premier Zydeco Showman."

The Downtown Alive! Grammy after-party kicks off tonight, April 1 in Parc International.
