Picasso's Attic is up for grabs

by Anna Purdy

Whitney Garland is throwing an event called Picasso's Attic Sale at the University Art Museum on May 5.

The Paul & Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum has a new champion: Whitney Garland is throwing an event called Picasso's Attic Sale on May 5. The campus' visually arresting museum (which is great, because right when you see it you know to slow down and be on the lookout for students distractedly walking to class) has an impressive collection for a comparatively small university museum. This event aims to preserve what is there and gain more of what is not.

Starting Wednesday, May 4, at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and continuing the same hours the following day, parties interested in bidding on over 100 original paintings, drawings and prints can get a sneak preview before the main event Thursday night. On that evening of May 5, the auction begins. The proceeds will go to benefit the museum's collections.

Admission to the previews and auction is free to the public. And it just wouldn't be an art auction without cocktails! There will be a cash bar of wine and a special cocktail created with this event in mind.

Check out the museum's site here for more information.
