While it's certainly no Milan, Lafayette is garnering quite a selection of locally owned, specialized boutiques. Its latest is Genterie Supply Company.
While it's certainly no Milan, Lafayette is garnering quite a selection of locally owned, specialized boutiques. Its latest is Genterie Supply Company.

Genterie Supply Company is moving in where the second Philippe's Wine Cellar location moved out around a month ago. Located on Vermilion Street across from Parc Sans Souci, Genterie will be neighbor to The French Press and Recycled Cycles. The business' owners are Ross Fontenot and Jon Peterson, both of whom are new to retail. The lease was signed last week. Already the windows are blocked from curious eyes, and signs are up stating its name and the tagline assuring passers-by that it is the purveyor of "Exceptional Garments and Objects for Men."

According to Fontenot, Genterie will be "men's casual wear, but it will be more up-to-date than anything else being done in town right now." He says toiletries, books and possibly music will be offered as well. The tentative opening is June.

"We both have a passion for style," Fontenot says of him and Peterson.
