UW/postal food drive Saturday

by Leslie Turk

The National Association of Letter Carriers and UW are urging Acadiana residents to leave canned goods next to their mailboxes Saturday to help feed local families.
You can help feed the hungry in Acadiana by leaving canned goods in a bag near your mailbox this Saturday, May 14.

As part of the 18th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers' Food Drive, local postmen will pick-up any nonperishable food items left at mailboxes and make the first-class delivery to local food banks. Last year's local event generated 36,000 pounds of food valued at more than $32,820, providing 21,880 meals to families throughout Acadiana.

The annual food drive is a collaboration between United Way of Acadiana, the local post offices and Food Net.
