Dege Legg, A.K.A. musician Brother Dege and until recently staff writer for this humble publication, is singing for his supper during ArtWalk at Recycled Cycles.
Recycled Cycles, located on Vermilion Street in the row of businesses that includes The French Press, will be open as part of downtown Lafayette's ArtWalk festivities. For the uninitiated, ArtWalk happens the second Saturday of every month and any gallery, restaurant, bar or retailer that wants to open its doors to visitors to let them gander at its art are welcome. It goes from roughly 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Recycled Cycles is a bike shop retailer that caters to the once-fad, now-necessity-thanks-to-gas-prices of having somewhere to buy a bike, sell one, or get yours fixed.
Brother Dege is playing a free show from 7 p.m. to 8p.m. He says he is "taking the Dobro where no man wants to go, i.e. Dobronaut'" and to "Bring your orgone generators, tinfoil hats, & chemtrail cloudbusters! This show is going to be like a pig-calling contest meets an astral-projection retreat.
"I'm going to be doing some audio cleaning with sound waves and positive energy projection. It sounds new agey and it is but really I'm just going to crank my Dobro through a half-stack of amplifiers and make a lot of cool noises and jam down on some Mekong Delta Blues. Beardos, dreadnecks, hippies, yuppies and titans of industry are welcome."
