Elephant Room closing ... and moving

A south Lafayette restaurant that offered a rare combination of beef and burlesque for the past year, The Elephant Room is closing its current location on the corner of Ambassador Caffery and Kaliste Saloom for a spot closer to its sister restaurant, Marcello's Wine Market Café.
A south Lafayette restaurant that offered a rare combination of beef and burlesque for the past year, The Elephant Room is closing its current location on the corner of Ambassador Caffery and Kaliste Saloom for a spot closer to its sister restaurant, Marcello's Wine Market Café in the 300 block of Kaliste Saloom.

Blakley Kymen, executive chef of both locations, confirms that The Elephant Room will be moving into the old Bella Notte spot a few doors down from Marcello's. At this location a new menu will be introduced, and the focus will be on more sophisticated bar food. The Elephant Room will still have entertainment and is expected to open in the new location in mid-July.

The Elephant Room's last night at its current Kaliste Saloom Road location will be Saturday, May 14. Turns out there are necessary renovations to that location, as a few weeks ago someone accidentally drove into the building in the early morning hours. No one was hurt. That spot will reopen under current owner Gene Todaro with Kymen at the helm, but it will have a new name and new concept. No opening date has been set, and no details are being released at this time.
