Do That Butt Thing, indeed

There are only two Downtown Alive! performances left for the Spring 2011 series. On Friday Horace Trahan & the Ossun Express hustle the second-to-last one into Parc San Souci.

Downtown Alive! is in its 28th season of bringing free live music every Friday at 6 p.m. to Lafayette during its spring and fall seasons. It is sponsored by Downtown Lafayette Unlimited in cooperation with Lafayette Consolidated Government and it's awesome. Booze, soft drinks and water sold, there is food to be had, and it's family-friendly for your little ones.

Horace Trahan has been playing the accordian professionally since he was 15 years old, performing Cajun and zydeco music. He is most famous for a song called "That Butt Thing," which is a tongue-in-cheek ode to women's dancing posteriors. Horace has consistently toured for years and has just released his fourth album, Keep Walking, which will be available for sale at the show. You can also buy his work at his site here.

Feel free to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to spread out on. Leave the dogs and the ice chests at home (buying drinks at DTA is what keeps the thing alive) and keep your smoking to outside the park. The music begins around 6 p.m. but folks start showing up to the park after 5 p.m.
