Republican Leadership Conference 2011 kicks off Day 2

by Leslie Turk

Gov. Bobby Jindal closes out the second day of the conference.

The second day of the 2011 Republican Leadership Conference kicked off Friday morning with an invocation, the Pledge of Allegiance and a Boudreaux-and-Thibodeaux joke, all three of which went over like gangbusters with the GOP faithful of 38 states who had gathered at the Hilton Riverside. "I have people tell me daily they're scared my children and grandchildren won't inherit the same country," Miss. Gov. Haley Barbour said from the podium earlier today.

Up this afternoon: Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Metairie (12:45 pm), Tea Party favorite Herman Cain (1:45 pm), Rep. Ron Paul (2:15 pm), Sen. Jim DeMint (2:45 pm), Rep. Michele Bachmann (3:18 pm), former Sen. Rick Santorum (3:48 pm), and, closing out the day, Gov. Bobby Jindal (4:48 pm). The Rev. Gene Mills, head of the Louisiana Family Forum, will be leading a panel discussion that will include representatives from the National Organization for Marriage.
