A FOWL SANDWICH INDEED
One of EatLafayette's many specials is Joey's Turducken Breast Sandwich, for only $7.98 when EatLafayette is mentioned (it's regularly priced at  $10.98). The juicy poultry pile of breast meat is topped with pepper jack cheese, lettuce and tomato and served on sourdough jalapeño bread with Joey's sandwich spread and a splendid side of sweet potato fries, which are cooked in peanut oil. But be warned, you may need a nap after you eat it. Check it out the next time you're on Bertrand Drive during lunch hour. - Wynce Nolley

A ROSIE BY ANY OTHER NAME
It's fair to say that far from gilding the zydeco lily, Rosie Ledet is now at the vanguard of a new strain of the style. Call it zyde-funk or zyde-rock. Taking a cue from non-traditionalists like Buckwheat Zydeco, Ledet infuses the music on her new record, Come Get Some (JSP Records), with some decidedly non-zydeco influences and machinery - not only the aforementioned genres but in the instrumentation as well, infusing driving rhythms with fuzz bass and throwing in a harmonica here and there. Ledet is joined by Andre Nizzari (guitars, harmonica, keyboards, percussion and bass), Chuck Bush (bass), Percy Walker Jr. (drums) and Damon Dugas (rub-board). The Creole beauty does step back into the standard fare occasionally, but she clearly revels in pushing the musical envelope on most of the dozen songs on the record. The CD is on sale at LouisianaMusicFactory.com for $14.99; the album can be downloaded in MP3 format for 9 bucks. - Walter Pierce

LET ME COUNT THE WAYS
Bendable, flexible, twistable. Versatile. A new accessory at Little Town provides so many options for how you wear it that I don't even know what to call it. Available in silver and a deep brown copper metal, these chains are - first off - long necklaces that you can also double around your neck or twist into any number of contortions to create a one-of-a-kind accessory. The wider silver version, $24, can be a fashion-forward wrap bracelet that snakes perfectly around your wrist. The copper necklace, $26, is slimmer and even more versatile - able to be worn as a bracelet or headband or belted around a loose-fitting button-down shirt dress or blouse for a great summer look. For more info, contact Little Town in the Oil Center at 268-9499. - Leslie Turk
