Four local designers are linking up to offer a monthly bazaar called Boho Mercantile.
The first Friday evening of every month starting at 6 p.m. local design houses LaceyDu, Native Owl, Bayou Bohemian and Gypsy Rig are hosting a bazaar called Boho Mercantile featuring locally made, handcrafted goods. It's going to be located across from Old Tyme Grocery on Brooke Avenue, right next to the highly anticipated farm-to-table restaurant The Saint Street Inn.
Bazaars are usually indicative of miscellany and things you cannot find elsewhere. These artists have joined up to make sure you have access to that unique weirdness. According to Lacey Dupre of LaceyDu, "Boho Mercantile is a co-op Gypsy boutique' offering strictly locally produced goods ranging from clothing, jewelry and ceramics to soaps, honey and fresh produce." It pops up once a month and after a few hours, it's gone again. Very Gypsy-like, indeed. There will be food and drink available to purchase. According to Dupre's website, fellow artist Jellyn Morvant came up with the idea to start a Boho. "Her vision called for three more of us local ladies to join together and create a monthly, recurring Bayou Bazaars that feature local goods. On the first Friday of every month, the four of us will host these bazaars and open our shop doors to the public and peddle our wares."

Dupre is also plotting a bike ride for the next morning to the Hub City Farmer's Market. Folks are meeting at Parc San Souci at 9 a.m. Aug. 6 for a leisurely ride to the Oil Center where the market will be selling produce, meats, baked goods, tamales and more. Between Friday night and Saturday morning you can probably get all your shopping done and meet some awesome people.
