Chamber seeking emerging leaders

by Leslie Turk

Leadership Lafayette is looking for the region's future leaders for its Leadership Lafayette program.

The nationally recognized Leadership Lafayette program, sponsored by the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, is now accepting applications for its 2012 session. Entering its 25th year, the program is designed to empower participants through community leadership, encouraging new, energetic and innovative leaders to approach complex community issues with in-depth analysis.

Twenty-five individuals are selected annually to participate in the 10-month training initiative. Participants are selected from a cross section of occupations and socio-economic sectors of the community.

Class members are involved through topical sessions, lectures, field trips and readings. The curriculum includes community issues in the areas of education, health care, economic development, law enforcement, government, social services, art, culture and local history.

Applications are available for download at www.leadershiplafayette.com or for pickup at the chamber office at 804 E. St. Mary Boulevard. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. For more info, contact Cydra Wingerter at 337-408-3652 or [email protected].
