UL Lafayette's Center for Louisiana Studies has a new boss: The university announced Monday that UL associate professor of history Dr. Michael Martin will succeed longtime director Dr. Carl Brasseaux as director of the center. Martin will continue as a history professor while leading the acclaimed CLS, established in 1973 "for the promotion of scholarly investigation of Louisiana's rich culture and heritage."
Martin received his undergraduate and master's degrees in history from UL, then known as U.S.L., and earned his PhD. in American history at the University of Arkansas. He has taught at UL since 2003.
