Families and foodies unite at Jolie's brunch

Sundays are for your choice of God, mowing lawns, football and general laziness. They are also for eating like the rest of the week will be one long fast, and Jolie's Bistro has some new menu additions to help you with your cause.

Sundays are for your choice of God, mowing lawns, football and general laziness. They are also for eating like the rest of the week will be one long fast, and Jolie's Bistro has some new menu additions to help you with your cause.

The new Sunday brunch menu rolled out yesterday. Open from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 507 West Pinhook, Sundays are the only day they do this special brunch menu. Jolie's has come under the helm of Chef Manny Augello since the beginning of the year. He incorporates as much regionally grown produce, meats and dairy as he possibly can and he promotes the local farmers right on his menu.

Already the fresh brunch menu has a few hits: Boozy Cinnamon Rolls with raisins soaked in grappa then touched with a white chocolate and goat's milk glaze for tangy sweetness; the classic Scotch Egg, which at Jolie's means a soft-boiled egg from a local farm encrusted with tasso and feta creamed spinach; for the homesick or those who want to try a Cajun child's favorite, Couche Couche with almond honey and WesMar milk over corn bread. Although there are several new choices, much of the previous menu remains, so don't worry about a complete revamp doing away with your favorites.

Augello's aim is to modify the menu seasonally, to try out new things and to keep in time with not just the seasons but the zeitgeist.

Call Jolie's at 504-2382 for reservations for any day of the week except Mondays.
