Former Jindal staffer joins Picard

Gov. Bobby Jindal's former director of intergovernmental affairs has joined Lafayette/Washington, D.C.-based The Picard Group.

Gov. Bobby Jindal's former director of intergovernmental affairs has joined Lafayette/Washington, D.C.-based The Picard Group. Rayne native Nick Cahanin will serve as Picard's director of state and local governmenal affairs for the lobbying/consulting firm.

Prior to accepting the post with Picard, which will allow him and his family to move back to Acadiana from Baton Rouge, Cahanin also served as Jindal's deputy legislative director tasked with managing relations with state lawmakers in both chambers of the Legislature. A former U.S. Marine, Cahanin is a combat veteran who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

According to a press release from The Picard Group announcing Cahanin's appointment, his "extensive background within state and local government brings real-world knowledge, understanding and experience to any situation. When faced with a challenge, Nick has the ability to assess the situation and quickly provide a thorough solution. From legislative affairs, to procurement, to issues management, Nick is well versed in all aspects of state and local government."
