LPSB narrowing in on super search

UL's College of Education staff is continuing to process applications for Lafayette Parish's next superintendent, who could be chosen by Dec. 7 if the Lafayette Parish School Board follows the timeline it approved for selecting the new top schools administrator.

According to The Advocate, there are five applicants so far vying for the position. The deadline for applications is Sept. 12.

Each of the applicants will be asked to present a powerpoint presentation to the local board, and board members have decided to visit the school districts of the top three applicants. The top three also will take part in a public forum before board members decide on two finalists, The Advocate reports.

Superintendent Burnell Lemoine's contract expires Dec. 31, the date when Lemoine is set to retire.
