Comeaux seeking re-election

by Walter Pierce

Assessor Conrad Comeaux was first elected assessor in 1999 and ran unopposed in 2003 and 2007.

Lafayette Parish Assessor Conrad Comeaux is seeking a fourth term in office. The chief tax official in the parish, a Republican, announced the bid in a recent letter to supporters via the Conrad Comeaux Campaign encouraging them to purchase tickets for a Sept. 1 fundraiser to be held at River Oaks. Ticket prices per couple range from $500 to $2,500.

Comeaux was first elected assessor in 1999 and ran unopposed in 2003 and 2007. However, in his fundraising letter he indicates that an "individual in Lafayette is planning to challenge me in the October election." Comeaux doesn't identify that challenger and this newspaper is so far unaware of one.

Qualifying for the Oct. 22 election is Sept. 6-8.
