CPC returns to budget Monday

On tap are reviews of Public Works and Capital Improvements.

The Lafayette City-Parish Council's budget hearing process continues Monday with reviews of City-Parish President Joey Durel's proposed budgets for the departments of Public Works and Capital Improvement. The overall funding for Public Works - one of the most complex, layered departments within Lafayette Consolidated Government - is proposed at just under $60 million, a 41 percent reduction from the current budget of $98.3 million, due in large part to anticipated reductions in non-personnel costs in several departments and a 44 percent decrease in facility maintenance costs.

The hearing begins at 1 p.m. in the council auditorium and is open to the public.
