Dardenne campaign fined by ethics board

Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne's campaign treasurer has agreed to pay a $2,500 fine for accepting seven contributions above the legal limit.

Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne's campaign will pay a $2,500 fine after reporting to the ethics board that seven of Dardenne's big donors gave more than the $5,000 maximum in contributions during Dardenne's special election run for lieutenant governor last year.

According to the Associated Press, campaign treasurer William Sandahl informed the ethics board of the violations as soon as he realized the donations were made. His campaign also reimbursed $7,027 to the seven donors who exceeded the limit.

Sandahal agreed to pay the fine per a consent agreement signed with the ethics board in June. He says Dardenne has no direct involvement in campaign financing.
